Fresh from the UK 's design courses, exhibitors are keen to attract public and professional attention, and work is available to commission and to buy.
Trend spotter Thorsten van Elten is curating the perennially popular One Year On feature where especially selected design entrepreneurs showcase collections destined for shops, galleries and private clients. There is a series of fascinating seminars and talks by some of the most influential names in the design professions, providing guidance, tips and insights into different aspects of the creative industries. And, for prospective students there are the Schools' Days that no school leaver considering a degree in design will want to miss. They are an invaluable opportunity to check out which course best suits a would-be designer.

Duncan of Jordanstone ceramics graduate Rebecca Wilson's work deals with the subject of value by considering the system of values bestowed upon familiar objects and possessions. She explores how the perception of an object is altered by its material, situation, or scale, and by making ironic and playful changes to these properties, encourages the viewer to question the value of the object.
Naomi James's recent work began with picking up feathers in the park, she found that despite their delicate appearance they could be transformed into a solid form by embossing into silver. She then experimented further with dried flowers, leaves and leaf skeletons and found that an amazing amount of detail was picked up on the silver, which she then complemented with touches of 18 carat gold.
